European Studies Master Programme students meet Stanford University students

On April 24, 2013, European Studies Master Programme students met with students from Stanford University in Berlin who have come to study visit in Riga, Latvia. The group of 40 Stanford University students was led by Professor Dr. Uli Bueckner and Professor Dr. Karen Kramer. The meeting was held at the European Commission Representation in Latvia, "EU House", and it was organized in the framework of discussion moderated by Romans Putāns, ph.D. candidate, researcher at the Centre for European and Transition Studies (CETS) and graduate of the European Studies Master Programme. During the discussion, issues related to Latvia as a member of the EU as well as education and study process in Latvia were discussed. The opening lecture about Latvia`s economic developments was given by Professor Dr. Tatjana Muravska, director of European Studies Master Programme and head of the CETS at the University of Latvia, followed by interventions from other members of CETS – graduates
Application for scholarships has been completed!

The application for patron scholarships who are administered by the LU Foundation has now been concluded. We have received the largest number of applications ever - 443. 146 applications were received for freshman scholarships, but 297 applications were received for scholarships starting from Course 2. For freshman students together, it was possible to apply for 7 sets of scholarships. The largest contest was for the scholarship 'Ceļamaize', which together received 103 scholarship applications. Among from the 2nd year of bachelor`s scholarships, the largest contest was for Kristaps Morberg's scholarship, which together received 92 scholarship applications. There were many more scholarships from course 2, because it was possible to apply for scholarships available to students from both bachelor and masters and doctoral candidates. Florbola komanda  “Latvijas Universitāte/FS Masters” piekāpjas “FK Kurši FSS”

Pirmajā šī gada piektdienā, 5.janvārī, mūsu florbola komanda “Latvijas Universitāte/FS Masters” viesos uzņēma “FK Kurši FSS”. Spēle tika aizvadīta spraigā un intrigas pilnā cīņā, taču beigās uzvaru guva viesi. Aizsākot pirmo periodu, mūsu puiši nespēja iejusties spēles ritmā, kas ļāva liepājniekiem 5. minūtē gūt pirmo vārtus atklājot spēles rezultātu. Turpinot cīņu par bumbiņu un nākamo vārtu guvumu, veiksme atkal nospīdēja “FK Kurši FSS” pusē, ļaujot viņiem gūt nākamos vārtus. Pirmā trešdaļa noslēdzās 0:2 atstājot “LU/FS Masters” iedzinējos. Pārtraukumā mūsu puiši saņēmās un otrajā trešdaļā metās iekšā ar jaunu enerģiju. Nenoliedzami tas palīdzēja, jo 26. spēles minūtē Rūdolfs Drevinskis ar Gustava Marka Zariņa piespēli atklāja “LU/FS Masters” rezultātu. “FK Kurši FSS” vēloties atgūt zaudēto vārtu guvumu 33. minūtē sekmīgi bumiņu raidīja mūsu vārtos, kas atkal “LU/FS Masters” atstāja iedzinējos par 2 punktiem. Pārtraukumā bija jādodas iedzinēju pozīcijā 1:3. Noslēdzošo trešdaļu

On June 16th the University of Latvia’s Faculty of Business, Management and Economics recognized its first graduation ceremony of the year. The European Studies Masters Programme students graduated in a beautiful ceremony that was attended by faculty, friends, and family, as well as by distinguished guests from the Latvian and international diplomatic services. The European Studies Master Programme (ESMP) at the University of Latvia would like to offer heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2017! The graduation ceremony began with an opening address from ESMP director Prof. Tatjana Muravska , followed by greetings from Vice-Rector Jānis Ikstens and Faculty Dean Gundars Bērziņš . H.E.
