On October 18, for the 12th consecutive year the University of Latvia organises the exhibition “Career Opportunity Day”.

The aim of the Career Opportunity Day is to create an environment for discussions and activities between employers and employees, thus promoting cooperation and building the understanding of labour market, as well as the competences that graduates need to better integrate into the labour market. The exhibition will take place simultaneously in two locations – at the UL Academic Centre House of Nature (Jelgavas iela 1) and in the UL central building (Raiņa bulvāris 19). The exhibition will bring together about 50 companies and organizations representing different sectors. The representatives of the companies will talk to students – the emerging professionals – about career opportunities and prospects in each company and their respective industry as a whole. The Career Opportunity Day is a chance for students, graduates and students to get acquainted with companies working in various fields (IT, economics and business, medicine, education, art and culture, applied sciences, public administration, philology and jurisprudence, etc.), to learn about careers, growth, studies, projects, opportunities, immerse themselves in “Career Guide”, to vote for the most attractive company, to participate in various activities and competitions provided by the companies, to receive the advice and assistance of the UL Career Centre specialists to produce attractive CV and motivation letter, as well as take part in contests organized by the UL Career Centre in its Facebook account. Students and visitors will be able to apply for current employment and internship vacancies. Career is much more than a choice of profession, it is an entire course of life, where human choices, interests, desires and efforts interweave. It is the skill to make decisions, to determine one’s destiny, which is brought about by successful career planning. UL Career Centre invites students, graduates and everyone interested to attend the Career Opportunity Day and choose their own path! More information: Project manager Anda Paegle, anda.paegle@lu.lv.
