Ever since its founding in 1919, University of Latvia (UL) Faculty of Law (FL) has been known as one of the largest forges of lawyers in Latvia. Both long-term UL patrons and the Faculty of Law graduates, as well as partners in collaboration with the UL Foundation support the traditions of the UL FL by organizing an extensive international scientific conference to celebrate the centenary of the faculty. Marking the 100 th anniversary since establishment of UL Faculty of Law, the 7 th International Scientific Conference of the University of Latvia Faculty of Law "Legal Science: Functions, Significance and Future in Legal Systems I" will take place in Riga from the 16 th to 18 th of October. The conference will honour both the significant anniversary of studies and research in Latvian legal studies, and the contribution brought by the faculty to development and renewal of our country’s national legal system. The University of Opole consists of twelve faculties. and in excess of 30 posters discussed, bringing together scientists from more than 30 universities and 20 different countries. Thanks to the close contacts and cooperation forged and sustained by the members of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia with universities in other countries, the conference and the papers, ideas and theses presented at it will have a lasting impact on the legal science and its development both locally and internationally. The thematic framework of the 8th International Scientific Conference was related to the new challenges the world is facing, and they do not concern solely the pandemic that has broken out all over the world, but also involve digital change, the new era of social networks and technologies that will change the fabric of society, and possibly even national policies. Invites to the seminar of the Doctoral School in Translational Research in Medicine: Merging Medicine and Law - Institute of Entrepreneurship

Laura Kadile - lawyer, 2nd year doctoral student of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia and researcher of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Latvia will speak at the seminar. The introduction of the seminar will be dedicated to the sub-sector of medical law - patients 'rights, emphasizing the importance of protection of patients' rights, regulation in national and international legislation. The seminar will continue to focus on the institute of legal capacity in civil law, looking in more detail at one of the components of the institute of legal capacity - business capacity, explaining the content and evaluation procedure of the clause "human ability to understand or manage one's activities". In parallel with the Institute of Entrepreneurship in Civil Law, the seminar will make a comparison with the Institute of Decision-Making or Decision-Making Abilities in Medical Treatment. Voluntary work of UL Foundation scholarship holders in the UL Museum

in the rubric ZEM LUPAS "About the creation of the University of Latvia in press publications of September 1919". Paula Malnača, a first-year student in the Physics Bachelor's study program at the UL's Faculty of Physics, Mathematics, and Optometry, chose to help Fridrich Cander and the Latvian astronomy collection as the holder of the Aina Galēja-Dravniece "Ceļamaizes" scholarship. Paula not only gained some museum experience, but she also learned a lot about astronomy. The UL Museum values hardworking and energetic students and invites interested UL Foundation scholarship holders to assist in the future, fostering an altruistic culture among scholarship holders. The UL Museum encourages scholarship holders to connect their studies, interests, and individual skills to the content of volunteer work.
