Director of the Institute of Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy, University of Latvia, Inga Šīrante participated in the conference "Liaocheng Foreign Experts Conference", China (November 13 - November 15), which was attended by experts from various fields, high-level professionals and young talents beneficial solutions for the development of the sectors represented. During the event Inga Šīrante presented the research directions of IAPS UL and their achievements, as well as the University of Latvia and Latvia, as well as made contacts with Chinese entrepreneurs during the networking event.

A Memorandum of Cooperation signed with Central Asian Cancer Institute

August 26, 2016 Memorandum of Cooperation got signed between the University of Latvia (represented by Professor Valdis Segliņš) and a NGO from Kazakhstan «Central Asian Cancer Institute» (represented by the chairman Nurbek Igissinov). The fields of collaboration of the Memorandum included the following: development of international contacts between Kazakhstan and Latvia, cooperation in research, including for the GISTAR project, collaborative development of innovation projects as well as facilitation of collaborative publications. This is expected that the Memorandum is going to facilitate the collaboration between the University of Latvia and Universities and research organizations in Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries.

between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (16+1) for closer cooperation in the field of education, as well as informed that Latvia will host the 5 th 16+1 Meeting of the Heads of Government in Riga, in November of 2016.LU representatives highlighted the need for Latvia to broaden its expertise and to participate into international research in order to develop knowledge and awareness about Tibet, its culture and religion. They expressed confidence that the contacts established during the Forum will facilitate cooperation between the academics of Latvia, China and other countries in research of Tibetan Buddhism and Buddhism in China in general.The Faculty of Theology has started to develop contacts with Chinese universities in order to cooperate in the field of religious studies with the support of the Embassy of China in Latvia.
