The UL Foundation supports the participation of a Baltic Philology student in the AABS 2022 Conference in Seattle
20.06.2022. 19.43 Ziņa
The 28th Biennial AABS Conference “Baltic Studies at a Crossroads” organized by the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS) took place in the last week of May at the University of Washington in Seattle. Due to the support of the University of Latvia (UL) Foundation, it was possible for Elvis Friks, a Master's student of Baltic Philology, to read a scientific report “Taste of Return: Latvian Post-Exile Texts through the Gastropoetic Aspect” and to meet the American-Latvian community to promote the dissemination of the ideas of the UL Foundation. Elvis Friks shares the story of his trip to Seattle:” The sky in Seattle is shrouded in gray clouds that resembles the blurry ink patterns of the East. At the airport, we quickly find directions for a train that stops near the University of Washington. After boarding the train, we see the wet, bent tree leaves through the window. It had probably been raining before the plane landed. Juris Cilnis, an active member
Gada labākā grāmata. R. Dž. Palasio „Brīnums”
27.08.2014. 14.32 Ziņa
Šī „New York Times” izslavētā dižpārdokļa autore R. Dž.

. I argue that the medial turns in early premodern China (which begins with urbanisation and the invention of printing techniques) and at the beginning of this century (closely related to the expansion of internet literature) should be looked at from a comparative angle. While printing, mechanised book-making and the developping markets already under Song boosted individual styles and new subgenres in poetry and later lead to the formation of regional identities via literary societies under Ming and Qing, cyberpoetry (which I will use as an example) and fiction diminish the sense of both individual authorship and cultural identity. At the same time, we clearly see the re-emergence of multifold "classicisms" remaking "modern" what used to be discarded by former generations as "traditionalist".
