Riga Summer School is looking for new team members to participate in organization of next year’s summer school.

In 2014 it will take place already for the fourth time and all previous years the summer school has been organized by teams of communication students under the guidance of Riga Summer School Executive Director. If you are first or second year student at the University of Latvia with good interpersonal, communication and English skills, who has some free time between December and August and is interested in gaining new experience from working on an international project, this message is for you and we look forward to your application!

What is Riga Summer School? Riga Summer School is a project by the Department of Communication Studies for international students from all over the world that provides lectures and workshops about the Latvian capital and communication. During the summer school small creative teams produce short films about various Riga neighborhoods. Films from previous years and other info can be viewed online.  

What is expected of team members? The summer school is organized entirely by the students, who are responsible for marketing the event, inviting students from over the world, ensuring publicity before, during and after the event, organizing events, managing the practical organization, helping foreign students with their film projects and many other things. In other words – the team members make the summer school happen. What do team members get in return? This is a voluntary work, there is no salary. Besides valuable experience in organizing an international event and new friends from all over the world, the students can also claim credits in creative project (radošais projekts, 4kp) or other relevant courses. For some team members there are opportunities to present the films in international events abroad. How to apply? If you are interested in becoming a part of Riga Summer School 2014 team, please, write a short motivation e-mail to Kaspars.Ruklis@gmail.com, explaining two things: (1.) why you are a good candidate for the team; and (2.) what would we loose, if we would not inlcude you in the team. The letters need to be written in English and they should be no longer than 3 paragraphs. Deadline: November 15.
