2nd International Conference for Students IDENTITY: PERSONAL, LOCAL, GLOBAL will take place in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Riga) in April 17-19, 2013. The application for the Conference is opened until February 1st, 2013.

The main aim of the Conference is to promote students’ interest in research, by involving them in scientific communication and by placing the students’ research in the academic and public space.  The Conference is meant as a scientific platform where students would be able to present their work. In the Conference the students are experts by presenting they research outside of their university and even internationally. The Conference provides an opportunity to debate about the student’s ideas, results of research, and their interpretation. The Conference in 2012 offered 39 presentations by 41 participants from ten countries (China, Ghana, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mexico, Romania, Russia, Serbia, and Ukraine). During the conference there were discussions on a broad range of issues, from political socialization of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon to conflict development and politics in Africa, as well as identity changes and their influence on the nation state security, journalism in Indonesia, emotions in e-motion, international volunteering in Copenhagen and contemporary xenophobic nationalism.
