Riga Summer School 2014 will conclude on Saturday with world premieres of six short documentaries on culture in Riga neighborhoods –Čiekurkalns, Mežaparks, VEF, Grīziņkalns, Spilve and Imanta.

Everyone, especially people living in these neighborhoods, is invited to film premieres at the Social Sciences Faculty of the University of Latvia, Lomonosova iela 1A on Saturday, August 16 at 19:00. Entrance is free of charge. During the premieres event, teams of students will talk about their films and experience in filming in Riga. The films will also be evaluated by a professional jury that will award the Grand Prix of Riga Summer School, and the audience that will vote for their favorite film. Students from 14 countries are visiting Riga from August 3 – 17 to participate in Riga Summer School – a practical study program about visual identity. Besides lectures, workshops and cultural program they also work in the neighborhoods of Riga and produce short documentaries. This year’s participants represent Australia, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Poland, South Africa, Tanzania, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan and Latvia.
