On 22 September, the Foreign Ministry will host a presentation dedicated to the opening of a collection of studies on the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region that had been compiled and edited by the Latvian Society of Political Scientists.

The research collection analyses experience gained during the first year of the Strategy implementation and possibilities for enhancing further co-operation. The published studies cover the aspects of the management and implementation of the Strategy, the issues of energy and employment, and the role of the Baltic Sea Region format in the framework of European institutions.

Taking part in the discussion are the Head of the Foreign Ministry European Union Directorate Ambassador Ilze Juhansone, Professor of the Political Sciences Department of the Social Sciences Faculty at the University of Latvia Žaneta Ozoliņa, Deputy Head of the European Commission Representation in Latvia Valdis Zagorskis, and the Head of the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Latvia Imants Gross, as well as the authors of the study, experts and political scientists.

The collection of research articles ”EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region: a year after and beyond” has been published with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Commission Representation in Latvia, and the Nordic Council of Ministers.

As reported earlier, the next day, on 23 September, the 11th Baltic Economic Forum "The EU Baltic Sea Strategy for a competitive region" will be opened. Further information about the forum is available at www.balticeconomicforum.com.
