From September 26 till September 28, the University of Latvia (UL) will celebrate the 94th anniversary with a programme of various events. One of the brightest moments of this year’s celebration is the UL Library’s return to the renovated rooms of Kerkovius’s House at 4 Kalpaka Boulevard.

A reception of UL patrons by the Rector of the UL, Prof. Mārcis Auziņš will be held on September 26 at 16:00. All current patrons of the UL Foundation, as well as the descendants of the patrons of 1935/36 who made a donation for the organ of the UL Great Hall, have been invited to the event. A plaque honouring the patrons is going to be unveiled by the UL Small Hall. Accompanied by Prof. Tālivaldis Deksnis, the patrons are going to visit the organ room which is usually not open to visitors and see the organ of the Great Hall. From September 26, an exhibition of the UL history, entitled Sprouts/Dzinumi, will be on display at the Entrance Hall of the main UL building at 19 Raiņa Blvd. The University of Latvia, as the oldest higher educational establishment the First Republic of Latvia (1918-1940) has always underlain the foundation and development of other Latvian universities, securing common scientific environment.
