On 5 February, Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Riga, a non-profit international student organisation, hosted a charity workshop where exchange students could try their hand at handicrafts.

The charity workshop was a part of the international project SocialErasmus by ESN, which aims to involve exchange students in voluntary activities in their host countries, develop their creative skills, and draw their attention to social values. Students from Estonia, the Czech Republic, Romania, Spain, and the United States made bracelets, necklaces and other handicrafts, which they donated to charity. The handicrafts were put on sale at Spice Shopping Centre in Riga on 6–8 February. The project raised a total of EUR 7,830.53 for The Children’s Hospital Foundation, which supports the Latvian Children’s University Clinical Hospital. ESN is one of Europe’s largest volunteer student organisations, operating in 36 countries. ESN Riga, currently the only branch of ESN in Latvia, was established in 2003. The main aim of the organisation is to support exchange students.
