International Yoga Day (21st June) will be celebrated in more than 177 countries Worldwide and this International event will be organized for the first time in Latvia/Baltic States (E.U) on 21st June in Riga, Street Kandavas 2 (Botancial Garden, Imanta) from 08.00-18.00. All are welcome to attend with families and friends. You wil have opportunity to see many Yoga events, Live Indian Music, Indian Classical Dances, Sales Exhibition of Famous Indian products , Delicious Indian Sweets, Exotic Indian Foods and much more….

“While addressing the 69th session of United Nations General  Assembly (UNGA) on September 27, 2014, the Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi urged the world community to adopt an International Day of Yoga. On December 11, 2014, the 193 member UNGA approved the proposal by consensus with a record 177 co-sponsoring countries a resolution to establish 21st June as "International Day of Yoga". In its resolution, the UNGA recognised that Yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being and wider dissemination of information about the benefits of practicing Yoga for the health of the world population. Yoga also brings harmony in all walks of life and thus, is known for disease prevention, health promotion and management of many lifestyle-related disorders”. International Yoga Day in Riga (June 21) celebration:  will begin on Main Stage with greetings  to the sun in the morning at  8:00am, followed by  Live Indian Music, Yoga performances, Inauguration by VIP’s, Lectures about History of Yoga in India and Latvia, Live Indian Music using Sitar, Sarod, Tabla Indian Classical Dances (Kathak, Bhartnatyam, Odissi), Indian martial art (Kalari Payatu)  and much more.  From 14.00-17.30 different yoga schools from Latvia/Baltics will give their presentation on main stage.  17.30 starts solstice meditation and program ends at 18.00. Botancial Garden will be open till 19.00 for the public. Also their were will be exhibition display of more than 35 Yoga schools from Latvia/Baltics. People can learn asanas (yoga exercises), learn pranayam (breathing exercises), learn meditation etc, Talk to many yoga schools,  buy indian souveniers/famous Indian products, try delicious Indian sweets and exotic indian food etc. This international celebration will start from Japan with sunrise and as wave (like New year) will pass through different countries of the world. BBC wants to capture all this happening in different countries and Latvia will be one of them from Baltics. This International event in Latvia is organized by: Embassy Of India Stockholm, University of Latvia (Center of Indian studies & Culture) in collaboration with Botanical Garden, ILCC, Tour Operator for India/Asia “Omkar Group SIA” &  Essence Of  dance. Project is supported by: Latvian- Indian advisory council, Herbals.lv, Bhajan Kafe, Bharata Classical Dance Studio, Pure Herbs, Dzannath Sweets, Sarasvati Music School and 35 Yoga School of Latvia/Baltics. In connection with upcoming International Yoga Day (21 June) their will Yoga Flash Mob  on 18 June at 21.00 in Old Riga (Venue: Rotashni square) more than 100 yoga students will show different yoga exercises (asanas) for approx. 30 minutes. We expect 15 Yoga School/more from Latvia to take part in it. Latvian Press, Radio, TV companies are most welcome to attend.
