At a time when debates on ecology, human nature, and ethics are becoming increasingly urgent, renewed philosophical attention to breathing and temperament as fundamental conditions of human experience opens up new ways of thinking about the interrelations between philosophy, culture, and life itself. Such perspectives invite a deeper reflection on the human–environment relationship and encourage both existential and scholarly inquiry.

On 5 February 2026, from 12:00 to 15:30, an academically rigorous yet open and collegial event will take place at the University of Latvia (Kalpaka Boulevard 4, Riga). Doctoral students, philosophers, researchers, and scholars from the humanities and related fields are warmly invited to engage with innovative interdisciplinary perspectives and to discuss some of today’s most pressing philosophical themes, including breathing, ecology, temperament, rhythm, and crime fiction.

PhD, Prof. Lenart Škof is Professor of Philosophy and Head of the Institute for Philosophical and Religious Studies at the Science and Research Centre Koper (Slovenia), as well as Dean of the Faculy ISH at Alma Mater Europaea University. His research focuses on respiratory philosophy, intersubjectivity, ethics, and peace. He is the author and editor of numerous  monographs and scholarly volumes on breathing, philosophy, ethics, and religion.

PhD Pier Francesco Corvino ir starptautiska projekta THuNB (Temperamental roots of the human–Nature bond) vadītājs, kurā temperaments tiek aktualizēts kā nozīmīga filosofiska kategorija cilvēka un dabas pamatattiecību  izpratnē.
