With the start of the new study year, the University of Latvia's application for mobile devices is created for the convenience of UL students. The application is available for free download to anyone interested, but the current version is targeted at active UL students. They can use the new application to access study data, to view the lecture time-table and the contact section, etc.

The UL application gives access to both public sections which do not require authentication and sections accessible via authentification with UL Information System user's login data. No authentication is needed to use UL contact section and to enter the portal www.lu.lv. Authenticated students are able to use the Activities section with the list of planned activities, such as registration for semester or library reminders, etc. When authenticated, students can access the Messages section where they will hereafter receive announcements from program's secretaries as well as notifications from the UL Student Service, or automatic notifications, for example, that the new grade has been registered in some course. Using the application, also UL alumni can access their personal data. In addition, the UL application has sections which content depends on the program chosen by a student. That includes the Study Data section with basic student-related information, the Grades section with their grades in each semester, and the Lecture time-table with a student's individual lecture list. Currently the application can be used with iPhone (iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad with the operating system iOS 5.0 or later. It is available for devices with Android operating system 2.2 or later. The application version for use in Windows Phone 7.0 or later OS is to be released in September.  The free UL application can be downloaded at respective apps stores:
