The delegation from the University of Jyväskylä in Finland, one of LU's long-term partner institutions within the European University Alliance FORTHEM, visited the University of Latvia (LU) on a benchmarking visit at the beginning of October.

The purpose of the visit was to gain an in-depth understanding of LU's education management and support systems, as well as to share experiences on ensuring the quality of studies, developing student support services, and using digital solutions in the study process.

LU representatives provided their colleagues from Finland with an overview of the University's education management and development processes, introduced them to student support structures, international student admission practices, as well as the use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in studies and management. They also discussed the implementation practices of joint study programs and the improvement of lifelong learning opportunities.

The future development of the FORTHEM alliance and preparations for the next funding period were also considered. Representatives from both LU and Jyväskylä University emphasized that this type of cooperation promotes innovation in education management and helps to strengthen the unity of the European higher education area.

During the visit, the Finnish delegation visited the main building of LU and the Academic Centre, gaining a comprehensive overview of the University's environment and infrastructure. Representatives of the University of Jyväskylä acknowledged that the visit had been inspiring, rich in content, and had provided new ideas for future cooperation.

LU participants emphasized that such meetings not only promote the exchange of experience and the adoption of good practices but also strengthen mutual trust and cooperation between European universities, which together form a space for knowledge and innovation in the future of Europe.
