On Thursday, May 5, the University of Latvia (UL) and its colleges were presented with a letter of gratitude from the Ministry of Health (MH) for providing support to medical institutions in a critical situation for healthcare sector, actively involving medical residents and students in the treatment and care of Covid-19 patients.

The Minister of Health Daniels Pavļuts presented letters of gratitude to the University of Latvia, Riga First Medical College of the University of Latvia, Riga Medical College of the University of Latvia, Pauls Stradiņš Medical College of the University of Latvia, as well as other organizations of the healthcare sector and individuals working in the sphere of medicine.

To overcome the Covid-19 crisis, the University of Latvia involved the human resources of the UL Faculty of Medicine several medical colleges, providing assistance to medical and diagnostic institutions, as well as conducting a wide range of research that “demonstrated the university's diversity and its capacity to provide scientific substantiation and research-based solutions to such unforeseen challenges”, stated the UL Rector Professor Indriķis Muižnieks.
