BALTEHUMS is a Baltic region conference on environmental humanities and social sciences. The second BALTEHUMS conference (BALTEHUMS II) was held online on 1 and 2 November 2021. Cultural heritage and new identities
Course
The course provides theoretical framework for the characterization of cultural processes and phenomena which, being in interaction with literature and other forms of elite culture, are not in the research focus of the specialized branches of art. This field has been conceptualized in different periods as folklore, traditional and popular culture or intangible cultural heritage with the respective research paradigm and situation in the sociocultural system. The course examines the various aspects of the interpretation of cultural heritage and its significance for the formation of identities, reviewing critically the newest tendencies in the understanding of culture and identity. Students are encouraged to explore in their specialization fields the dominant characteristics and specifics of cultural heritage, its effect on the processes of identity formation and how identities affect the meanings attributed to cultural heritage. related to them in connection with street art, artificial intelligence, and trade secret protection; peculiarities of intellectual property rights from the point of view of liability in such contracts of intellectual property law as assignment contract and license contract; peculiarities for compensation of damages in respect of infringement of intellectual property rights from the point of view of delict (tort) liability; and objects of intellectual property rights created in employment legal relations in connection with the rights of employees and employers to these objects. Each topic includes both theoretical classes in the form of lectures and practical classes in the form of seminars.

Artis Straupenieks – a winner of the scholarship established by the Latvian Sworn Notary Council and administered by the UL Foundation in the academic year 2012/13, alumnus of UL Faculty of Law, lawyer of the law office “Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns”. Support In April 2013, A.Straupenieks donated EUR 3486.04 toward participation of the UL Law Faculty student team in the Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Mott Court in October 2013, Germany. The UL Faculty of Law and its students every year take part in several international moot courts. Over the years several new exciting and promising moot courts have been established in the fields of law that cannot be studied in Latvia. We greatly appreciate the generous support to education and development!
