Target Group

We are pleased to invite both administrative and academic personnel from partner and potential new partner universities to the  4th International BIP Staff Training Week  "Critical Thinking Integration: COIL and AI Tools for HE Enhancement " at the University of Latvia! 

Event

Aim of the staff week is to intervene Critical Thinking (CT) principles with Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) methodologies and advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to enrich higher education experiences. Emphasizing the development of critical thinking skills, the event aims to foster a learning environment that encourages students to question, analyze, and evaluate information from a global perspective. 

The BIP  “Critical Thinking Integration: COIL and AI Tools for HE Enhancement " is composed of online part in April 26, 2024 hosted by the University of Latvia in cooperation with the leading expert in AI Prof. Angelos Rodafinos from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a topic “Introduction in AI and practical lessons about how to find tools that you need for efficiency of using AI”. A 5-day on-site event that will take place in the beautiful city of Riga, the largest of the three Baltic capitals, from the May 20 till May 24, 2024.

Expected Outcomes: 

  • Enhanced Critical Thinking Skills: Staff and Teachers will develop the ability to think critically, question assumptions, and analyze information from diverse cultural contexts. 

  • Global Awareness: COIL practices will contribute to staff global awareness, enabling them to approach problems with an international perspective. 

  • AI-Augmented Learning: AI tools will provide personalized support, fostering individualized critical thinking development. 

  • Effective Problem Solvers: Staff and teachers will be equipped with the skills to critically address complex global challenges, utilizing both AI tools and a rich understanding of diverse perspectives.  

We are looking for active participants willing to improve their professional competences, share their experiences, creative ideas and best practices from their home universities. 

We will host up to 20 participants, and no more than 2 participants per university will be accepted. Please, be aware this is a BIP event and your mobility should be registered as a BIP by your university administration. 

! Please take your refill bottle with you for water and your thermo mug for coffee or tea. A small step with a serious impact! 
! You are welcome to bring with you traditional sweets from your country for coffee breaks. 

We are looking forward to meet you online and in Riga to jointly explore solutions to increase the quality of our daily work!
