Objective: to prepare students for the development and defence of master's thesis, demonstrating the skills to carry out a study independently, demonstrating theoretical, practical knowledge and methodological skills in the fields of library science, information science, book science or archival science and information and document management. Tasks: Choose the subject of the study and develop a master's thesis programme, present the study programme and the first results in thepre-replacement of the master's thesis, develop theoretical and empirical research, describe, design, submit and defend it in accordance with the requirements. The master's thesis is developed and defended in Latvian.

The course is the third, final stage in the development of the Master's thesis. Students carry out empirical part of their thesis in accordance to study question/hypothesis, the chosen research design and procedure, and by using the developed (adopted) method of measurement. Students analyze and interpret the obtained data set, and describe the results and interpretations in the respective chapters of thesis. At the end of the course, the student defends the master's thesis.

The aim of the Master's thesis is to consolidate theoretical knowledge, academic skills and abilities acquired in the study program of Public Management according to the requirements of the Master's study program. Master's thesis is an independent research work with an original solution offered by a scientific advisor on a topical or practical issue. The chosen topic should be topical in the field of Latvian or international public administration, oriented to the analysis and improvement of public administration or local government activities, specific problems of public administration or local government reforms. Master Thesis is worked under supervision of supervisor and public presentation. It follows after the finishing of obtaining ECTS from all courses in program. Master Thesis’ defending concludes the studies in program of Professional master in clinical optometry. Master Thesis is an independent and innovative research study in vision science field. Master Thesis has to secure that its author has acquired the relevant academic qualifications according to master level. Mater Thesis has to contain both theoretical and practical knowledge and has to provide a clear and structured argumentation of results.

Course
The procedure of the public defence of Master Thesis takes place at the end of the studies and it is a compulsory precondition for receiving the Diploma. The Master Thesis is research, which is supposed to present new ideas and be written according to scientific research requirements. The Master Thesis should demonstrate that the student has the necessary level of scientific maturity, ability to follow principles of logic, competence in selected areas and academic skills. The aim of Master's thesis is to demonstrate and synthesize the skills and knowledge the student has acquired during the study process. Two main tasks of this course are a presentation at the annual conference of the Master's students and a defence of Master's thesis.
