Goal of the course is to provide basic knowledge in Earth physics, which is substantial and important for students of Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences in order to acquire successfully the other study courses. Main objectives: 1. to define the basic laws of physics; 2. to explain their relation to the processes that take part on the Earth and surrounding environment. The course content involves the most important subjects of physics and expression of various physical processes in nature. The language of instruction is Latvian.

The course “Providing of Legal Advice” is orientated to obtain practical skills through service of legal advice for low-income persons. The aim of the study course is to give students the opportunity to learn practical skills in the supervision of qualified law practitioners, developing the skills and legal thinking necessary for the work of a lawyer. Course tasks: 1) to provide assistance to low-income persons within the The Legal Aid and Assistance Centre of the UL Law Faculty (JPPC or Legal Clinic). It is the student's responsibility to find a solution and to provide a legal opinion to the client after having agreed it with the supervising attorney invited by the Center. Thus students learn to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills. 2) within the framework of the cooperation of The Legal Aid and Assistance Centre (JPPC) and the portal ManaBalss.lv. - to provide legal opinions or consultations regarding the initiatives registered in the collective application portal

Bilateral Cooperation Agreements

How to apply for exchange studies within bilateral/network cooperation agreements? The selection of the candidates take place at the beginning of each study semester and is organised by the international coordinator of the respective faculty . (Exception: Department of Asian studies select their candidates individually). Candidate shall address to the Mobility Division of the Student Services Department with an already approved and signed nomination form issued by the respective faculty, which is accordingly forwarded to the chosen partner university/network. Student nomination does not guarantee a study exchange place in the chosen partner university/network. For successful processing of application procedure in partner university/network, student shall follow all required procedures and set deadlines. Important! Solvita Olsena is a health law expert with long experience both in academia and in legal practice. She is an associate professor of public health and law at the Medical Faculty, the University of Latvia, where she teaches and writes in health law. Her academic interests and research topics include a human rights approach to health and rights to health, patients’ rights and patient safety, mental health law and protection of patients with limited capacity, medical data protection and eHealth. She is a sworn advocate and a member of the Latvian Collegium of Sworn Advocates. She holds an M.D. from the Latvian Medical Academy, a J.D and Dr.iur. from the University of Latvia.
