Pre-school learning models and child development research
Course
Purpose of the study course: Promote students' awareness of learning patterns and promote pedagogical competence for research and evaluation of children's development and activities. Course Tasks: 1. To gain an understanding of the nature of preschool children's learning and create an idea of its organization in the form of specific learning models. 2. To create an understanding of the goals, tasks, and nature of child development and activity research. 3. Promote understanding of child development and performance research approaches, forms, and methods. 4. To acquire skills in the creation of child development research portfolios and to develop research work skills The course enhances students' skills to research children's development and performance in the context of different learning patterns. Students learn research approaches, forms and methods, and have developed child development research portfolio. The language of instruction is Latvian.

The aim of the course is to develop students' knowledge, skills and competences according to the A1/1 level in accordance with the common European guidelines for language learning. The tasks of the course are as follows: 1. To provide basic knowledge of the structure of the German language and the basics of grammar. 2. To introduce the German alphabet, pronunciation of various letters and combinations of letters, and reading rules. 3. Develop the ability to create simple dialogues: dating, opportunities to spend free time, food, shopping etc. 4. Provide an opportunity to practice audiovisual (viewing+listening) skills. Special attention is paid to learning strategies that help in the learning process. Languages of instruction are Latvian and German.

The aim of the study course is to acquaint students with the basic issues of the teaching and learning methodology of mathematics: planning and organization of the teaching and learning process, normative documents of the content of school mathematics, the development of the system of teaching and learning. In the study course students acquire the knowledge necessary for the professional activity of a mathematics teacher and gain an understanding of the organization of the teaching and learning process of natural sciences, model and analyze the process of teaching and learning. Students master the basic topics of the teaching and learning methodology of mathematics in primary and secondary education. Acquisition of Latvian as the first and as the second language

The aim of the course is to develop an understanding of the mechanisms of acquisition of Latvian as the first, as the second and as a foreign language in all subsystems of the language: phonetics, vocabulary, morphology, syntax and pragmatics. The tasks of the course are: 1. to deepen the understanding of the relation between language and consciousness and emergence of language in ontogenesis and phylogenesis, 2. to develop an understanding of bilingualism, multilingualism and the use of multiple languages in communication and cognition, 3. to develop theoretical basis and practical skills for teaching Latvian as the first and as the second language, 4. to develop skills of creating teaching materials adjusted to the specific needs of language learners. The language of instruction is Latvian.
