Thanks to the support of Theodor Hellbrügge, the honorary doctorate of the University of Latvia and professor of the University of Munich, the Centre of Social Pediatrics of the Faculty of Medicine (FM) was founded on 26 November 1998. The Centre serves as a clinical base not only for students of the Faculty of Medicine, but also for emerging psychologists of the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art, social pedagogues, special pedagogues, as well as for practitioners of the industry who perform their professional development in the form of continuing education in the Centre. Students at the Centre are educated for multi-sensory therapy used in the work with children with special needs, as well as with autistic and hyperactive children. On 17 May 2019, the Centre's new study rooms were opened at the UL House of Science.

The Study practice course provides students with the opportunity to test their knowledge, skills, and competences in the real-life situation. Practice course summarizes and synthesizes the information of the thematic element-groups for the realization of the concrete and practical study task. Students independently act in an environment of the chosen cultural heritage object to evaluate it from every point of view in connection with the environmental science, concepts of cultural heritage, and humanities and arts. Knowledge acquired during the Practice is summarized, synthesized and recorded in the Practice diary and reported to the tutor of the Practice.The choice of the research object is made by the Student and it should be confirmed by the Tutor. The plan of the Practice in the 7th semester of the programme thematically involves it with the Course-work „Elaboration of the project of the Bachelor’s theme” and therefore supplements both the progress of the theme and the possibility

Easy Language
Course
The course offers a comprehensive introduction to and understanding of the concepts of inclusive society, plain and easy languages, and aims to equip students with the skills required to produce/translate/adapt/use texts in Easy Latvian in professional communication, ensuring accessibility of information to people with permanent or temporary reading disabilities. The course especially aims to cater to the needs of the students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Education, Psychology and Arts, Faculty of Medicine, Faulty of Humanities as well as any other professionals whose work not only allows but also provides for communication with easy language users. Students will be able to use Easy Language as one of their professional tools and understand the target groups of Easy Language users and their need for a specific language level. Ancient Cultural Heritage Studies: Interdisciplinary Aspect
Course
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with specific facts, phenomena and processes characteristic of ancient cultural heritage in the context of European culture and from the global perspective, paying special attention to the relevant interdisciplinary aspects, which are considered in long-term development and interaction. Exploration of the aspects of ancient cultural heritage reveals the transmission, adaptation and role of ancient Greek and Roman culture in a variety of fields, including the creative industries. The course focuses on the aspects of ancient cultural heritage in aesthetic and gender studies, as well as on the interpretation of practical and pragmatic aspects in the history of European culture, and the depiction of ancient cultural heritage in contemporary performing arts and mass culture.
