Ieva Pīgozne The objective of the research project was to achieve professional matureness of Dr.art. Ieva Pīgozne and enhance her specialisation development by completing a study that characterises the Latgalian folk dress, outlines the chronological development of it in the 19th century and detects regional and foreign influences in it. The scientific objective was to enhance the base of knowledge on Latgalian clothing in the 19th century and to revise the existing knowledge. The objective of the project proposal is achieved. Ieva Pīgozne studied the 19th century Latgalian peasants’ garments, footwear and accessories that are stored in museums in Latvia. She examined the written and iconographic sources that characterise Latgalian dress in the 19th century. Ieva Pīgozne outlined the chronological development

The aim of the course is to provide an in-depth knowledge of the latest trends in specialised social science research methods, in line with the doctoral student’s field, specialisation and design of the doctoral thesis, by improving cross-disciplinary awareness and knowledge of more sophisticated social science research methods, as well as skills and competence for independent research and critical evaluation of the research quality. Head and neck anatomy for dental students
Course
The course includes sections of head and neck anatomy, topography and embryology. The purpose of the anatomical section is to create a modern state-of-the-art picture of the structure of the bones and joints, muscles, fascias, digestive and respiratory proximal parts of the human head and neck. As part of the course, students learn the blood supply of the head and neck, venous and lymphatic system, as well as inerration. In the process of training, special attention is paid to the anatomy and topography of the head and neck area. The course also includes the most common pathological syndromes and anatomical justification of pain pathways. The learning process uses both traditional and modern anatomical research and learning methods. The knowledge acquired in the course is the basis for the development of other medical sectors, without which it is not possible to continue medical studies. Cooperation with HEI and research institutions

The Faculty of Humanities cooperates with the Latvian Academy of Culture, Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, Liepāja University, Daugavpils University, Rīga Stradiņš University and with other HEI (the cooperation in the field of science, implementation of several programmes, organization of seminars for PhD students, exchange with guest lecturers, etc). The Faculty of Humanities cooperates with the research institutions of the same field, e.g. Institute of the Latvian Language of the UL, Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art, Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the UL (cooperation in research, conference organization, regular visits of students to institutes, contacts with consultants and reviewers, etc).
