The aim of the study course is to provide students with knowledge and skills in conducting, developing, presenting and defending independent research work. Master's thesis is a mandatory requirement in the final phase of the Professional Master's study program in Optometry. The study course "Master thesis (14 CP) and the study course "Introduction to the Master's Thesis" (6 CP) makes associative course "Master Thesis" (20 CP) that is a part of the study program. Master's thesis is a student's individual research in one of the fields of visual science. The student chooses either the topic proposed by the readers or suggests his/her own topic presenting the arguments for his/her choice and the possibility of its elaboration. All topics of Master's theses are approved at the meeting of Optometry and Visual Science Department.

Master’s Thesis is self-dependent research. The aim in preparing the Master’s thesis is to strengthen theoretical knowledge and academic skills in the area of the law, developing them in accordance with the requirements of the master’s degree study programme, also preparing the student for scholarly research work and for pursuit of a doctorate. The Master’s thesis satisfies the requirements of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia vis-à-vis the successful defence of the thesis, including the preparation of a working plan, identification of the necessary sources of information, and the writing, editing and defending of the thesis.

Master thesis (60-80 pages lengths) is the student's independent scientific research in the selected branch of philosophy, containing new ideas and corresponding to the criteria of scientific publication. The aim of the Master Thesis is to demonstrate synthesis of knowledge and skills acquired during the studies and appropriate use of them. The course tasks are following: 1. to select, read and critically analyze literature relevant to the theme; 2. to elaborate the conception of the Master Thesis and to argument new approach/ideas; 3. to use relevant methods and scientific approaches to the topic. Master Thesis should be developed in close cooperation with an academic supervisor and successfully defended at the examination commission's open session. Course will be delivered in Latvian.

Master's thesis is an independent study done by the student on a chosen subject, in which the student develops and publicly defends the work as a final exam of the study program. The work is evaluated by the Pharmacy Master's Thesis Defense Commission. The aim of the Master's thesis is to enable students to demonstrate their readiness to independently use theoretical knowledge and practical skills in solving research and professional problems. The task of the Master's thesis is to make students aware of the responsibility and quality of research work, copyrights and science-based health care, as well as to recognize the importance of professional ethics. The course is taught in Latvian.

The aim of the course is to prepare a draft of the master's thesis, including the introduction and theoretical part, as well as a research project of the master's thesis and to improve the skills of the research work. The course is intended to support the development of the Master's thesis. Tasks of the course - During the study course students get acquainted with the requirements of the Master's thesis, formulate the topic of the Master's thesis and the research problem, raise the research question and / or hypothesis according to the planned research design. In accordance with the theme of the Master's thesis, in consultation with the Master's thesis supervisor, develops the master's thesis plan, identifies the necessary sources, and selects research methods for the analysis of current problems. After completing this course, students create their Master's thesis for defense. The Pre-defense Committee for Master's Thesis evaluates the submitted draft Master's thesis, approving

The aim of the master's thesis is to strengthen theoretical knowledge, academic skills and abilities in the field of management science and economics and business in general, in accordance with the requirements of the master's study programme. Master's thesis is an independent research work with original solution of a topical theoretical / practical problem under the guidance of a scientific supervisor. Tasks of Master's thesis: to summarize, systematize, deepen and consolidate the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills; to develop theoretical generalizations and formulate substantiated proposals; to put forward and prove a hypothesis; to study the correlative relationships between regularities and factor influence; to learn to maintain the motivation and creativity to solve a problem.
