Study Program Director
Prof. Henrijs Kaļķis
In a modern and creative study process, students will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge, skills, and competencies in an interdisciplinary study program that combines courses in engineering sciences, management sciences, and natural sciences. Within the engineering science courses, students gain an understanding of system control principles in industrial engineering and practical skills in ensuring and improving technical production processes. Meanwhile, the management science courses will provide knowledge about management principles and human resource management, business organization, innovation and efficiency management, as well as the execution of necessary economic calculations. Students learn the principles of organizational performance quality and efficiency, which also include the LEAN management philosophy and methods used by leading industrial companies worldwide.
An important component of the study process is internships. Internship placements can be in public institutions and companies in Latvia or abroad within the framework of the Erasmus+ program.
Graduates can work as top-level managers and systems control engineers in companies across various industries. The acquired knowledge enables them to both understand and regulate a company’s technological processes, as well as manage enterprises and organizational units. Market research indicates that there is a shortage of highly qualified professionals with engineering qualifications in Latvia and globally, and the demand for such specialists is expected to grow rapidly in the future. Therefore, graduates of the study program will not only have broad employment opportunities but also promising career advancement prospects both in Latvia and internationally.
