Latvia’s Indigenous Livonian people, with their rich cultural and linguistic heritage and a long, relatively well documented, and dynamic historical trajectory, offer a broad and distinctive field of research across disciplines. This spans archeology studies and the relationships between land, environment, and people; folklore and cultural history; contact linguistics; and, in particular, the study of language and cultural transmission, revitalisation, and the building of long-term sustainability and resilience for languages and cultures in the evolving environments of the 21st century.
