The aim of the study program “Business Administration” with a specialization in International Business is to prepare students either to establish and develop their own enterprises in an international environment or to pursue careers as highly qualified specialists in public, private, and international institutions. Graduates will acquire a comprehensive set of competences required for entrepreneurial activity in compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.

Students will be trained to work both independently and collaboratively. They will also enhance their presentation, analytical, and critical thinking skills—competencies essential for sustaining competitiveness in the labor market as well as for supporting the growth of business organizations in a dynamic and volatile economic environment. The language of instruction is English.
 

  • 1st year – practical entrepreneurship, economic theory, business English, economic informatics, statistics;
  • 2nd year – management, theory of finance, marketing, optimization theory, theory of accounting, international economic relations, record keeping and correspondence, course paper;
  • 3rd year – business strategy and policy, introduction to law, financial accounting, personnel management, specialization courses, bachelor's thesis.
  • During the study programme theoretical knowledge is supplemented with practical know-how in the field of entrepreneurship. Students have an opportunity to take practicums or find internships in a variety of businesses, government institutions, and international organizations.

Graduates have the necessary knowledge and skills to work competently and professionally in public bodies and private sector businesses, banks, government and research institutions. The study programme provides all the necessary tools for students to establish a private business regardless of the industry. Graduates can also continue their studies both in Latvia and abroad.

Admission Requirements for Foreign Nationals with Secondary Education Completed Outside Latvia:

EU/EEA/Swiss citizens and EU long-term residents:

Non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens and Non-EU long-term residents:

  • General secondary school diploma
  • English language proficiency
  • Grade in Mathematics must be no less than 8 on a 10-point grading scale
  • The average grade on the secondary education certificate across all subjects must be at least 6 on a 10-point grading scale
  • All grades must be passing (at least 4 on a 10-point grading scale)
  • If the secondary education certificate does not include a grade in mathematics, it can be replaced by a grade in the subject of economics/business management field (the grade must be at least (minimum 8 on a 10-point grading scale).
  • SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) overall score no lower than 1200

As part of the admission process, applicants will be required to participate in an online interview.

Admission Requirements for Latvian Citizens/Non-Citizens and Foreign Nationals with Secondary Education Completed in Latvia:

Admission criteria for individuals who obtained their secondary education from 2004 onwards:

  • CE in Mathematics*;
  • CE in English language;
  • CE in Latvian language;
  • Average score of all CEs completed by the individual;
    * For individuals who have completed secondary education before 2008, the centralised examination in mathematics may be replaced by the average mark in mathematics indicated in the secondary education document (or the average mark in algebra and geometry)

Admission criteria for individuals who completed their secondary education up to and including 2003 and individuals with special needs:

  • final grade in Mathematics (or the average grade of Algebra and Geometry);
  • final grade in English language no less than 6 on a 10-point grading scale (can be substituted with an internationally recognised English-language test result at a minimum of level B2);
  • final average grade in mandatory subjects

During a single cycle of studies, students have the opportunity to spend up to 12 months abroad for studies or internships. Currently, the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences has over 320 Erasmus+ cooperation agreements with universities across Europe and beyond. Students can participate in exchange studies in countries such as Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Turkey, Portugal, Slovakia, Malta, and many others.

In addition, students may take part in exchange programmes based on bilateral agreements, which allow for study opportunities in 53 countries worldwide — including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and more.

Short-term mobility options are also available through the FORTHEM Alliance, offering students the chance to gain new knowledge and skills in Germany, Poland, Norway, Romania, Italy, France, Finland, and Spain.

Classes are held on weekdays from 8:30 to 18:00,  according to the lecture schedule for the specific semester.
