Dr. Henrik-Alexander Schubert (Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, Rostock) will deliver a guest lecture titled “Fertility in Germany, the Baltic, and Nordic Countries: Developments, Patterns, and Challenges”. His research focuses on population dynamics within regional, cultural, and political contexts, with a particular emphasis on fertility and birth patterns.
Dr. Dovilė Galdauskaitė (Vytautas Magnus University & Vilnius University) will speak on “Fertility Trends in Lithuania: The Context of Changing Gender Roles and Personal Life Planning.” Her research explores fertility, gender roles, and family transformations amid social change. Combining demographic methods with sociological theory, she examines how evolving gender norms shape personal life choices and demographic outcomes.
Dr. Aivita Putniņa (University of Latvia, Riga) will present “Looking at Fertility from the Grassroots: The Role of Values, Beliefs, and Practices around Children”. Dr. Putniņa has established anthropology programmes and founded the Public Anthropology Research Group at the University of Latvia. Her work includes extensive research on childbirth, gender, families, and the prevention of violence. Participants will gain valuable insights into recent research developments, providing a platform for discussions with the speakers.
