For the second time this year, the intercultural project Culture Exchange Programme or CEP is going to take effect; through the course of the semester, starting September 29, until mid-December participants - both foreign and local students - will have a unique opportunity to get to know one another and find out more about every representative’s ethnic and national characteristics.

Achieved by taking part in various themed activities and discussions, participants will also contribute to their intercultural competence, which recognizably is a necessity in the modern global age. The official meetings are going to take place at least twice a month; each of them is going to have its own theme. It is planned to occasionally have informal meetings and shared leisure time within the positive company of other participants and organisers to promote fellowship and amity. Some of which: trips to the animal shelter "Ulubele", a tour, or a hike; organising, and participating in unofficial meetings, put together by participants themselves. To create a relaxed atmosphere, there are going to be several „ice-breakers” and "energizers" included in every official meeting. This semester the project will conclude with a never before in the course of CEP’s existence realised objective - a charity event, involving both local and foreign students, in one of Riga's hospital departments for children. Overall, CEP is a great opportunity to make contact between different people, not only at national, but also global level, to help foreign students integrate into this newly found environment, making their visit in Latvia into an unforgettable adventure. This is an offer to learn from each other, resulting in dispultion of faulty perception of other nationalities and their respective cultures, to gain experience, and set out of one’s comfort zone. This semester the organisation of CEP has been taken up by representatives from four universities - the University of Latvia (LU), Riga Technical University (RTU), as well as Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration (RISEBA) and Turība university (BAT). Thereby the co-operation and understanding between the representatives and students from the previously mentioned universities will be improved, and a wider audience is going to be reached; more work will be done in order to do good for the society.
