The Department of Latvian and Baltic Studies of Faculty of Humanities is inviting submissions for the 10th international scientific conference at University of Latvia 4-5 December 2015.

Submission deadline: October 15, 2015 The possible topics to be discussed at the conference include, but are not limited to:
  • The relationships between theology and literary critic,
  • Influence of religion on literary process,
  • Analysis of concrete works of art influenced by the religious motifs,
  • Contemporary interpretations and transformations of the biblical and other religious motifs in art and literature.
In the center of this year’s conference – The Tower of Babel and it’s interpretations in film, theatre, art, music and, of course, in literature:
  • The transformations of the myth in Latvian and European culture,
  • The cultural and religious hybridity in literature.
Speakers shall be allocated 30 minutes in total: 20 minutes to deliver the presentation and 10 minutes for discussion. There is no conference fee. All conference events are free of charge for the presenters. The conference cannot offer any grants for travel or accommodation.  We welcome submissions in Latvian, English and Russian, the three working languages of the conference.
