University of Latvia Social Sciences Faculty head Inta Brikse passes away

Professor Inta Brikse, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and head of the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Latvia passed away at the age of 58.

From 1992 to 1993 she headed the Department of Journalism at the University of Latvia. In 1999, she became the head of the Department of Communication Studies. From 2000 to 2009, she was the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. She was re-elected in the position in 2013.

In 2011, Brikse was nominated for the head of the University of Latvia.

Brikse was a member of "Preses nams" council, as well as a member of "Mediju nams" board and expert council.
