From October 10th – 12th, 2012 urban historians from the Baltic States along with the colleagues from Germany and Poland will gather to the First Conference of the Baltic Urban History at the University of Latvia in Riga.

The conference work has been organized by the Faculty of History and Philosophy and the Institute of Latvian History (University of Latvia) in cooperation with the Herder-Institute in Marburg (Germany) with participation of the Institute of History (Tallinn University) and the Faculty of History (Vilnius University). The aim of the conference is to update urban history research activities in both Latvia and the Baltic states, as well as to facilitate cooperation and academic networks among the Baltic historians and representatives of other disciplines in human and social sciences. Conference work will proceed in both English and German. Summary thesis will be provided in German for the papers presented in English, and vice versa.
