Scientific papers of the University of Latvia (UL), issued from 1921 until 1943, are now available in the UL e-resources repository. These publications were digitized in cooperation with the Latvian National Library within the project "National Digital Library – phase 2", sponsored by ERDF and the LR Government.

The UL Scientific papers, being an important UL research summary edition, have been issued since 1921 and were originally titled "Latvian School Scientific Papers" ("Latvijas Augstskolas Raksti"). The UL Scientific papers’ earliest volumes are of interest due to the content and as a historical material. They give insight into that time research scientific publications of the significant UL researchers.

Volumes and issues of scientific papers, included in the repository, are grouped by subject. The UL faculties or university research units were responsible for the definite series subject. Along with the Faculty of Philology and Philosophy, Agriculture, Mathematics and Natural sciences, Chemistry, Medicine and other faculties scientific papers series several UL research institutes’ series were also represented. Among research institutes were Astronomical Observatory, Botanical Garden, Meteorological Institute, thus including a wide range of subjects and enabling the reader to get acquainted with the practical research in natural sciences and expanded essays in various disciplines of the humanities.

The UL Scientific papers include publications of the university staff members and researchers not only in Latvian, but also in English, German, French and Latin. The UL e-resources repository contains digital versions of more than 180 UL Scientific papers issues from 1921 until 1943, which can be viewed online or downloaded.
