2nd Workshop "Investigation of changes of physico-chemical properties of fusion reactor functional materials under influence of high-energy radiation"
Gunta Kizane
Institute of Chemical Physics of University of Latvia within the framework of the Baltic-German University Liaison Office's Project is organizing second scientific seminar on the topic of materials for nuclear fusion fuel.
The seminar will be held on Thursday, November 19th in the Academic Centre for Natural Sciences of the University of Latvia, 1 Jelgavas street, room 801. Seminar will start at 9:15.
The leading researcher of the Institute of Chemical Physics, Dr. chem. Gunta Kizane will present the main results obtained in the Baltic-German University Office project and future plans. The researcher Arturs Zarins will talk about the influence of nobble metal micro-impurities on the radiolysis of the modified lithium orthosilicate (Li4SiO4) pebbles. The leading researcher of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Dr. Regina Knitter and eng. Oliver Leys will inform about the latest developments of tritium breeding ceramic at KIT and will give an inside look about blanket zone materials of fusion devices, which were discussed in the workshop “Ceramic Breeder Blanket Interactions“. The researcher Liga Avotina and the laboratory assistant Oskars Valtenbergs will info about their visited summer schools in KIT and Max-Plank-Institute of Plasma Physics.
