Audience Grand Prix of Polish “Short Waves” Festival was awarded to Tomasz Sliwinski for his documentary “Our Curse”. Participants of the festival satellite events in Latvia also favored this film, as the most votes in both Riga and Daugavpils screenings were given to this documentary. Altogether about 200 people in Latvia attended the festival events, and 172 people voted for their favorite films.

“Our Curse” is a personal statement of the director who together with his wife has to deal with an extremely rare and incurable disease of their newborn child – the congenial central hypoventilation syndrome. The film shows the process of taming the fear connected with the disease. For the first time „Short Waves” satellite festival offered a program of films by young Polish filmmakers to audiences in Latvia. The program consisted of 7 competition films plus a film by young Polish filmmaker Aleksandra Terpińska, who also attended the events in Rīga and Daugavpils. Festival “Short Waves” is an initiative by Polish AD Arte Foundation and took place at the beginning of April in Poznan, Poland already for the sixth time. Satellite festival in Latvia was organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Latvia and the Embassy of Poland in Riga in cooperation with Polish Culture Centre in Daugavpils and Multikino.
