Nik Gowing, former host of BBC broadcast programmes The Hub, BBC World Debates, and Dateline London, will give a lecture Acute New Vulnerabilities for Business, Governments and Systems in the New Public Information Space at the UL Small Hall (19 Raiņa Boulevard) on November 12 at 14:30.

The presentation will focus on the new executive fragilities and policy implications for government ministers, civil servants, defence and security agencies plus corporate institutions and NGO’s from the new matrix of real-time information flows and transparency created especially by the explosion of social media. The lecture will be of interest to anyone who works with public administration, government and public policy on a daily basis. It includes representatives of public and private institutions, communication professionals, media representatives, experts and students interested in politics, international relations, crisis management and communication science. The lecture will be in English. About Nik Gowing From 1996 to 2014 Nik Gowing was the BBC’s leading news presenter.  From 1996 to 2000 he worked as a news presenter at The World Today. Nik Gowing has anchored from a number of hotspots such as Kosovo in 1999 and Iraq in 2003. Nik Gowing has reported on the progress of major international events, including the BBC World debate from the World Economic Forum in Davos and the Nobel Prize award ceremony in Stockholm. Since 2014 he is a Visiting Professor at King's College in London.
