The University of Latvia Academic Centre

During the 5th World Congress of Latvian Scientists, the University of Latvia (UL) invites scientists, students and businessmen to visit the UL Academic Centre on 27 June to explore the laboratories, participate in discussions and learn about cooperation opportunities.

The Ministry of Education and Science on 27 June invites participants of the 5th World Congress of Latvian Scientists and everyone interested in higher education and research to visit scientific institutions. UL participates in the initiative of welcoming visitors, and offers an extensive and versatile programme for this event.

On 27 June at 11:00 a.m., the opening of the event will be held in the UL Academic Centre House of Science, where UL Rector Indriķis Muižnieks will address the participants and visitors. The Rector will introduce attendees to the scientific research areas at UL, and provide a more detailed information about the university’s achievements in science, as well as highlight the current research projects.

After the opening of the event, visitors will be invited to take a tour of the modern UL Academic Centre. It is one of the most contemporary study and research centres in Northern Europe. The laboratories of the Houses of Nature and Science are unique not only in Latvia, but also in the Baltic countries. In the coming years, the Academic Centre will be enhanced by the House of Letters – the abode for the faculties of humanities and social sciences, institutes and the Library. The further planned development includes construction of a Technology Centre, a service hotel, the Academic Square, as well as a modern sports facilities, car and bicycle parking spaces. A wonderful view of the picturesque towers of Old Riga across the River Daugava opens to the visitors from the UL Academic Centre.

At the conclusion of the visit, everyone will have the opportunity to visit the institute or faculty they are interested in, to see the laboratories and auditoriums in order to learn more about the researchers' scientific ideas and consider potential cooperation opportunities.
