The study programme prepares highly qualified accountants with in-depth knowledge in financial analysis.

 

This programme provides comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in accounting and financial management required for a qualified accountant in the modern business environment, including:

  • Accounting and organisation of accounting processes: Students acquire an understanding of the organisation of the full accounting cycle, recording of economic transactions and planning of accounting work in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Preparation of financial and tax reports: Students learn to prepare accounting, financial, statistical and tax reports, ensuring their accuracy, completeness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Financial planning and analysis: Students acquire skills in budgeting, cost calculation, financial planning and analysis of a company’s financial indicators in order to assess the financial position and performance of an organisation.
  • Fundamentals of business and economics: Students develop an understanding of economic principles, business operations and the legal framework governing entrepreneurship.
  • Digital technologies in accounting: Students learn to apply information technologies and digital solutions for performing professional tasks, including accounting and preparation of reports.
  • Professional communication and cooperation: Students develop skills to communicate and cooperate with clients and colleagues in both local and international environments, working independently, in a team or leading a team.

Upon completion of this programme, you will become a professional who is able to:

  • Plan, organise and manage the full accounting of an organisation’s financial operations in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform necessary financial calculations and prepare financial, tax and statistical reports.
  • Analyse a company’s financial indicators and provide true and complete information about the organisation’s financial position and performance.
  • Effectively use digital technologies in performing accounting and financial tasks.
  • Work independently or in a team, taking professional responsibility for the work performed.
  • Communicate and cooperate with clients, colleagues and cooperation partners in a professional environment.

This education provides advantages in obtaining stable employment in public administration institutions and companies both in Latvia and abroad, as well as the opportunity to develop one’s own business in the field of accounting services. A career can be developed in public administration, in companies in Latvia or abroad, as well as in one’s own accounting services company.

Upon successful completion of this study programme, a short-cycle professional higher education diploma is awarded. It certifies the qualification of an accountant and also provides the opportunity to continue studies in the 3rd year of a bachelor’s degree programme.

Within the programme, it is possible to study for one or two semesters at one of the partner universities. The mobility period ranges from 2 to 12 months. Tuition fees abroad are covered by the partner university, while the student pays the tuition fee to the BA School of Business and Finance. In addition, it is possible to receive an Erasmus+ scholarship, which helps to cover travel and living expenses.

Students have the opportunity to undertake Erasmus+ financially supported internships in European companies. Additionally, it is possible to participate in international project weeks organised by partner universities abroad and in short-term Erasmus+ mobility programmes.

Classes take place online on Mondays or Wednesdays from 18:15 to 21:30 according to the schedule of the respective semester. Study materials for independent learning are accessible at any time.
