Study location: Riga
The study programme prepares highly qualified financial analysts and risk management specialists for work in the banking and non-banking financial sector, investment and insurance companies, corporate financial management, as well as public sector and international institutions.
Within the study programme, students acquire in-depth knowledge of financial market operations, financial instrument analysis, risk identification, modelling and management, as well as financial decision-making under conditions of uncertainty. Particular attention is paid to quantitative methods, financial data analytics, regulatory and supervisory requirements, as well as the application of modern financial technologies.
The programme develops analytical and critical thinking, research skills and practical competencies, providing students with the ability to analyse financial processes, assess risks and develop sustainable financial solutions, including the integration of ESG principles into financial decision-making.
The Master’s Degree in Finance and the qualification of Financial Analyst ensure competitiveness in both the Latvian and international labour markets, as well as provide a solid foundation for further academic and professional development.

During the studies, you will acquire knowledge in the following main areas:
- Financial processes and globalisation: You will gain in-depth knowledge of financial processes, their diverse interrelationships and development trends in the context of globalisation.
- Corporate finance and risk analysis: You will develop an understanding of the interrelationships between a company’s economic, financial and risk factors, as well as their impact on sustainable development.
- Financial forecasting and risk management: You will learn to forecast the financial performance of a company or institution, analyse factors influencing risk levels, and manage and optimise risks.
- Capital structure analysis and optimisation: You will acquire methods for evaluating and optimising capital structure and ensuring a company’s financial stability.
- Company valuation: You will develop skills in assessing a company’s market value and designing solutions to increase it.
- Cooperation and management skills: You will improve your ability to cooperate with employees from different organisational units, management and partners, as well as take responsibility for the performance and analysis of team results.
An important component of the study process is the internship, which is related to various financial and risk management issues. Internship placements may include public institutions, companies and banks in Latvia or abroad.
Graduates of the programme are financial experts who forecast and plan, prepare investment projects and analyse financial market phenomena. Graduates pursue careers in credit institutions, investment and insurance companies, as well as in organisations of all types in the public and private sectors.

Students have the opportunity to undertake Erasmus+ financially supported internships in European companies. In addition, it is possible to participate in international project weeks organised by partner universities abroad and in short-term Erasmus+ mobility programmes.
Additional information and study plan
Classes take place three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 18:15 to 21:30 according to the lecture schedule of the respective semester.
