Anastasija Kravčenoka who studies at the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Art (FPPA) of the University of Latvia (UL) and Tīna Graudiņa won the 4th place at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Friday, August 6, conceding to the Swiss team.
In competition for the bronze medals Graudiņa / Kravčenoka with the result 0-2 (19:21, 15:21) gave way to the Swiss duo Swiss duo Anouk Vergé-Dépré and Joana Heidrich.
Anastasija Kravčenoka is studying educational management at the University of Latvia. The main motivation for the athlete is to acquire education as a guarantor of the future. “I am motivated to study by the awareness that an athlete's career lasts only for a part of one’s life and education can assist in shaping one’s life without sports or outside of this sphere. A person must have a plan B for building the career. It is interesting to learn, to find out something new, to acquire education, to become smarter,” explains the UL student.
UL offers high-level athletes dual career opportunities – obtaining higher education in parallel with professional sports. The goal of a dual career is to create a study process that is compatible with training and competitions.
Anastasija Kravčenoka affirms that she is happy about the individual approach of the University of Latvia lecturers both in lectures and seminars. Notably, the athlete has dedicated her master's thesis to research of dual career, which can further motivate other athletes to choose this path.
