About 200 foreign exchange students from 23 countries study at the University of Latvia (UL) in the autumn semester of the academic year 2020/2021.

Most of the foreign students have already arrived in Latvia, and after the period of self-isolation they are welcome attend lectures at the faculties of the University of Latvia. During self-isolation, students can commence their studies remotely by contacting their faculties’ Foreign Affairs Coordinator and the lecturer of the respective course in order to successfully enter the study process on site after the end of self-isolation. Most courses are offered on site at the faculties, but due to security and space constraints, some courses are also provided online.

The annual introductory lecture, usually held on site in the University of Latvia Great Hall, was also conducted remotely, for the first time using the Microsoft Teams platform, an online Q&A session was organized for all international exchange students at the end of the registration week to answer students' questions for a successful new start of the academic year at the University of Latvia. The students were most interested in the procedure for registering for courses at each faculty and completing formalities at the University of Latvia.

Students found the online Q&A session very valuable and appreciated the Mobility Division's efforts to support students during self-isolation.
