Culture Agenda in June

June is here—the month when we celebrate the summer solstice and our love for song and dance resonates especially loudly in our hearts. For the groups at the University of Latvia Cultural Center, this will be a time full of events. From dance concerts and festivals of women’s and men’s choirs to the most ambitious student cultural event in the Baltics—the 20th Baltic Student Song and Dance Festival “Gaudeamus,” which will take place just before the summer solstice.   Please note that admission to the "Gaudeamus" concerts will be with free admission tickets, which will be available at "Biļešu paradīze" ticket offices starting June 8.

On June 4 at 7 p.m. at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, the University of Latvia Women’s Choir “Minjona” and the University of Latvia Mixed Choir “Juventus” will participate in a concert-exam in choral conducting titled “The Baltic Song Trail.” The concert will be conducted by Xinyuan Chen (a doctoral student in Prof. Romāns Vanags’ class).
