Now in its fourth year, the summer school is organized in cooperation with Utrecht University (The Netherlands) and is coordinated by the University of Latvia's Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences and the Department of International Cooperation.
The intensive two-week programme offered a comprehensive insight into security challenges in the Baltic region, historical developments, and the impact of Russia’s hybrid warfare. Students attended lectures on the history of Russia–Europe relations, strategic communication, propaganda analysis, and participated in simulation games, discussions, and field trips to museums, the Latvian Parliament, NATO STRATCOM COE, Kuldīga, Jūrmala, and the UL Botanical Garden.
“This summer school created a special sense of community – we became like one small international family,” said programme coordinator Aleksandra Kjakste. “It was a true pleasure to work with such curious and engaged students.”
We express our heartfelt thanks to Professor Žaneta Ozoliņa, Professor Jurģis Šķilters, Lecturer Sigita Struberga, Associate Professor Toms Rostoks, and Lecturer Edgars Engīzers for their inspiring lectures and invaluable contributions to the programme.
Special thanks to the UL Botanical Garden for warmly welcoming the students.
The University of Latvia sincerely thanks all participants for their active involvement and looks forward to meeting again in the future!
