On 11 October 2012 prof. Dina Porat (Israel) visited us with a lecture – discussion “Who is a Righteous among the Nations: the Baltic countries’ case in a comparative view”. The lecture was organized by The Embassy of Israel and the Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Latvia.

Dina Porat, a Tel Aviv University professor of Jewish history, served as head of the Department of Jewish History, the Chaim Rosenberg School of Jewish Studies, and the Stephen Roth Institute for the Study of Antisemitism and Racism. She is now head of the Kantor Center for the study of Contemporary European Jewry (that includes the Moshe Kantor Database for the Study of Antisemitism and Racism), is incumbent of  the Alfred P. Slaner for the Study of  Contemporary Antisemitism and Racism, and  Chief historian of Yad Vashem. Prof. Porat has written and edited a large number of books and articles on anti-Semitism and the Holocaust (the biography she wrote on Abba Kovner, published by Stanford UP, won the 2010 National Jewish Award), was a visiting professor at Harvard, Columbia , New York, Venice International  and the Hebrew universities, and was awarded TAU's Faculty of Humanities best teacher for 2004. Was a member of the Israeli Foreign Ministry delegations to four UN world conferences, and served as the academic advisor of the Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research (2005-2010).
