Open Access Week celebration in the University of Latvia

The University of Latvia is celebrating the 5th anniversary of Open Access movement in Latvia. On the 24th October there will be held scientific café - discussion named "Copyrights in an open access: burden or opportunity?!"
The attention will be turned towards such subjects as the transfer of the author`s works into the usage without reimbursement within the regulations of Latvia`s legal system; Creative Commons licenses; the experience of publishing in Latvian Open Access journal "Environmental and Experimental Biology"; an overview about Open Access legislation in European Countries - why is ENCES so important.
During the discussion the University of Latvia Library`s staff will introduce with Open Access movement's goals and importance and will present the results of "Open Access" questionnaire, which was created to find out the awareness amongst University`s academic and research personnel of Open Access movement as well as their experience in publishing whilst using Open Access. The participants of the discussion will be able to watch a video which is devoted to Open Access movement in Latvia as well as enlightening about the Open Access week`s events in the university from previous years. There will also be opportunity to watch it on University`s website.
Also the staff of University`s Library have prepared an electronic booklet about the questions of copyrights of scientific electronic publications, which will be presented to the University`s Academic Staff.
