We are pleased to announce the launch of the DistanceLAB digital tools platform, where a wide range of innovative tools is now available free of charge to support remote and hybrid work in the Baltic Sea region and beyond.

The launch event took place in Stockholm on 4 June 2025, where the project partners met to announce the start of the online hub and discuss future cooperation. During the event, participants were also introduced to the International Multidisciplinary Living Labs Network and to each project partner’s Living Labs. The Living Labs network is a platform that brings together diverse organisations from the Baltic Sea region and other countries to jointly address current challenges. It offers opportunities for both individuals and organisations to connect with companies, universities, public and non-governmental institutions, and experts, fostering international cooperation across different fields. At present, eight Living Labs have joined the network, specialising in areas such as academic research, innovation, education, entrepreneurship, agri-food innovation, and sustainable urban development. You can learn more about them here.

The DistanceLAB online platform offers tools developed within the project to help organisations of all sizes navigate the changing landscape of remote work. Whether you want to improve collaboration, increase sustainability, or develop a strong remote business strategy, DistanceLAB provides practical, tested solutions that are ready to use.

FOR INNOVATION AND NETWORKING EVENTS

Distance Soft Interaction Skills enables individual users and teams to self-assess and improve their remote communication skills, promoting more effective virtual collaboration. It is complemented by Networking Methods, which offers practical approaches for SMEs and start-ups to strengthen their communication strategies and innovation processes. Meanwhile, Open Innovation through Business Lab provides a structured workshop format that encourages joint idea generation around specific challenges, making it a powerful method for creating collaborative solutions in distributed teams. The Remote Learning Opportunities & Skills Fulfillment tool is a guide to a range of online learning courses and platforms.

Together, these tools enable organisations to build stronger connections, drive innovation, and thrive in a remote working environment.

FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGIC GROWTH

To support strategic development in remote and hybrid work environments, DistanceLAB offers tools that help organisations plan, adapt, and grow. The Customer Relationship Building tool provides SMEs and public institutions with strategies for maintaining strong customer relationships remotely. The Cybersecurity Toolbox offers a clear framework for strengthening digital security, while the Digitalization Strategy Model helps organisations effectively integrate digital solutions. For internal development, the Employee Satisfaction Tool provides real-time insights into team morale and cohesion, while the Remote Recruitment Start Kit makes it easier to onboard and integrate new employees in remote teams. In addition, the Business Internationalization Enhancement system helps companies identify and systematically assess new global opportunities.

FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND GREEN INITIATIVES

To help organisations align remote work with environmental responsibility, DistanceLAB offers tools that promote sustainable thinking and practice. The Design for Sustainability tool helps companies create more sustainable models, products, and operations using a modular self-reflection approach. Meanwhile, Eco-Digital-Check supports service-oriented SMEs by assessing and improving both their environmental impact and digital performance—promoting a holistic approach to sustainable development.

We also invite other organisations to get involved!

The DistanceLAB platform already features tools developed by other organisations, as well as related resources. If you have developed a digital tool that supports remote work, you can submit it for publication on the platform and help expand this valuable resource.

Explore the tools and join the movement towards a smarter, more connected working environment in the DistanceLAB online hub.
