
Thus, UL compellingly affirms its leading role in the Latvian research, and, furthermore, endorses its position as the main driving force of research in the country. The University of Latvia is followed by Riga Technical University with 8 approved projects and the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre with 7 projects.
The projects encompass a wide spectrum of scientific fields – from natural sciences to social sciences and humanities:
- Natural sciences – 14 projects, funding: 4.2 million euro
- Engineering and technology – 13 projects, 3.9 million euro
- Medical and health sciences – 10 projects, 3.0 million euro
- Agricultural, forestry and veterinary sciences – 5 projects, 1.5 million euro
- Social sciences – 7 projects, 2.1 million euro
- Humanities and arts – 7 projects, 2.1 million euro
The total support for the implementation of 56 projects amounts to 16.8 million euro.
The projects will be implemented in a total of 18 scientific institutions. UL stands out with 17 approved projects in the capacity of an applicant. These projects represent a wide spectrum of sectors, reflecting the ability of UL to ensure scientific excellence in diverse fields.
The successful performance of UL asserts its strategic direction towards internationally competitive research, creating a strong foundation for the creation of new knowledge, innovation and the succession of researchers.
The FARP programme is an essential instrument that promotes advancement of the quality and quantity of scientific work, especially by promoting the involvement of young researchers in research, interdisciplinary cooperation, the development of innovations and their impact on the national economy.
