Students are invited to apply for the international conference Riga Readings in Social Sciences (RRSS)

University of Latvia (UL) Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) Advanced Social and Political Research Institute (ASPRI) has announced call for papers for the student session at the 1st Riga Readings in Social Sciences (RRSS) “Civic society, inequality and post-crisis transformations”. The conference will take place on November 23 this year in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Latvia (Lomonosova St. 1A, Riga, Latvia). Working language: English.

The conference welcomes students from B.A. and M.A. programs from political science, sociology, communication studies, information and library sciences in order to present researches conducted within the term papers and Bachelor’s thesis. Paper proposals must include:
  • Name, institutional affiliation, e-mail address of the participant
  • Title of the abstract
  • Keywords (max 5)
  • An abstract of 200-400 words
This information should be sent to the conference contact Laura Ardava (Laura.Ardava@lu.lv) till September 15, 2017. Registration information will be available on the conference website www.rrss2017.lu.lv Participation fee: 20 EUR. Organizing committee of the conference will consider the possibility of giving the financial support to the limited number of students to cover the participation fee. ASPRI is the research institute of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Latvia. Since its creation in 2004, the task of ASPRI has been to coordinate interdisciplinary research projects involving the academic staff and graduate students of the four departments in the faculty, which are political science, sociology, communication studies, information and library sciences. Number of leading scholars, researchers and scientific assistants work in the institute. The director of the institute is Professor Aija Zobena.
