On April 16, 2026, the University of Latvia Academic Center will host the University of Latvia Sports Day—an event that will bring together students and staff to participate in sports activities, competitions, and recreational classes.

The goal of the event is to promote physical activity as a meaningful way to spend free time, to involve as many members of the University of Latvia community as possible in activities that promote a healthy lifestyle, as well as to strengthen mutual cohesion and foster new connections among students from different faculties.

During Sports Day, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, participants will have the opportunity to take part in both organized tournaments and open activities. The program includes various sports and recreational disciplines, such as:
• 3x3 volleyball
• zorb soccer
• table tennis
• archery
• novuss and mini golf
• checkers, Uno, and Jenga
• strength disciplines (bench press, pull-ups, hanging from a bar)
• photo orienteering
• rodeo bull and relay races

Some activities require advance registration, while others can be joined on-site on the day of the event.

Tournaments in 3x3 volleyball, zorb soccer, and table tennis will begin at 4:30 p.m. The volleyball competition will feature teams of three players, with the rule that each team must include at least one woman. In zorb soccer, teams will consist of three players, adhering to safety requirements and simplified game rules.

In the table tennis tournament, participants will compete individually, and the competition will follow official rules.

The procedures and rules for the other disciplines will be explained on-site.

Participation in LU Sports Day is free of charge. Advance registration is required for tournaments with a limited number of participants—3x3 volleyball, zorb soccer, and table tennis. Registration is open online until 11:59 PM on April 14, 2026.

For other activities, registration will be available on-site on the day of the event, starting at 4:00 PM.

The 1st–3rd place winners in each discipline will be awarded prizes provided by sponsors. The awards ceremony will take place immediately after the conclusion of the respective activity.
