Extraction and study of extract composition
The task of this activity is:
- to develop a method for acquisition and subsequent purification of standardized extract of wild and cultured forest and bog berries (of Vaccinumgenus);
- to optimize extraction methods of complex of biologically active substances; to assess impact of the extraction method (conventional, extraction by treating with ultrasound, microwave radiation, extraction with substances in super-critical condition) on the composition of the extractives and the result, focusing on environmentally friendly solvents (CO2, ethanol, H2O etc.);
- to study composition of extract of wild and cultivated forest and bog berries (of Vaccinumgenus), establishing common characteristics of the composition and the most significant substances in isolated extractive fractions;
- to make chemotaxonomic characterisation and study the character of metabolomics.
Further it is planned:
- to study the composition of plant product extractives, describing common characteristics of the composition and the most significant substances; to analyse the amount of polar (polyphenols, anthocyans) secondary metabolites in the extractives;
- to study and describe the complex of biologically active substances using GC, GC-MS, UPLC-TOF-MS, analysis of reference samples and other analytical methods;
- to develop methods for analytical and preparative fractionation based on their perspective biological activity (activity guided fractionation).
